On January 11, at approximately 9 a.m., a speedboat carrying tourists collided with a fishing vessel while traveling from Phuket to the Phi Phi Islands. According to preliminary information, there were 33 Russian citizens on board the speedboat, as well as citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and a number of other countries. As a result of the incident, a Russian citizen born in 2008 died. 23 of our citizens with injuries of varying severity have been hospitalized in several medical institutions in Phuket, where they are receiving medical care. The police of Phuket and Krabi provinces are investigating the incident. Employees of the Consulate General, in cooperation with doctors, Thai law enforcement agencies and local authorities, are providing the necessary assistance.
