Bangkok
A karaoke bar worker in Suphanburi province has filed a police report against a customer who, she says, forced her to take drugs, which led to a deterioration in her condition. The 20-year-old bartender remains in the hospital. She told Channel 7 that she decided to go to court because she almost died after the incident. According to the girl, a 33-year-old client named Noom pressured her three times to take drugs while she was working at a karaoke bar in the city center. She claims that Noom offered her 300 baht the first time. Fearing refusal, she accepted the money, but spat the drug out in the bathroom. According to her, she repeated this a second time and received 500 baht. However, the third time, Noom followed her to the bathroom and forced her to swallow the substance. She tried to induce vomiting, but could not, as, according to her, the drug dissolved quickly. Soon after, she developed symptoms such as rapid breathing, weakness in her arms and legs, and slurred speech. She asked a colleague for help, after which the bar owner took her to the hospital. After receiving medical attention, she found bruises on her body and learned from doctors about the risk of a heart attack. The worker demanded 30,000 baht in compensation from the client. However, according to her, the bar owner negotiated on his behalf and stated that the amount was too high. Noom transferred 5,500 baht to her, which she considered insufficient given the seriousness of her condition. Noom surrendered to the police and confessed to giving the girl a "snack" without knowing the exact composition of the substance. Police suspect it may have been ecstasy, but laboratory tests are ongoing. Channel 7 reported that Noom's initial drug test at the police station was negative, but he was sent to the hospital for further examination. The substance given to the girl has also been sent for analysis. A similar incident occurred in February when a Chinese citizen was accused of forcing a Thai artist to take drugs. The woman died in a Bangkok hospital. The suspect surrendered after fleeing Thailand. He admitted to using drugs, but denied forcing the woman to take them, claiming that they used the substances together before she overdosed. In 2019, a Thai man gave a drink laced with drugs to an artist known as Lulabelle, and then took her to his apartment. She later died from exposure to the substance.
